YogaSpa is a Lifestyle for the active yet relaxed. We are community orientated in our approach to helping people live healthy lives. When you walk through our doors you will not only find all styles and levels of yoga, but also a wonderfully diverse, warm and welcoming community of students, staff and teachers. Our goal is to guide students to greater self-awareness, focus, and health through our yoga programs. We do this with love, compassion, a sense of adventure and fun and a reverence for what each individual can accomplish throughout their lives. YogaSpa is a school, not just for a day or week, but for the rest of your life.

Mission Statement

Our intention is to provide a retreat in which the rewards of challenging physical activity are attained and celebrated. The benefits of increased energy, release of toxins and reduction of stress from your yoga practice may be synergistically combined with various massage techniques to promote a lifestyle of health and wellness for mind, body and spirit.

 

Bikram Method

Bikram Yoga is an athletic, demanding, 26 pose (asana) series conducted in a heated room. The heat warm s the body, allowing for deeper, safer, more complete work, changing the body both inside and out. The class, a 90-minute format for all levels, beginner to experienced, is designed to develop your personal health by balancing strength and flexibility, preventing illness and injury, improving circulation and reducing stress.

 

As you progress your improved concentration, determination and technique will allow you to work harder, deeper yet calmer. Bikram yoga provides an infinite number of benefits, leaving your body feeling cleansed, physically spent yet uniquely energized.

Bikram Choudhury is the founder of the Yoga College of India in Beverly Hills, California. He is a four time National India Yoga Champion and has been named the most knowledgeable hatha yoga teacher. This 26 Hatha Yoga posture series is performed in a room temperature of 90-105 degrees. This facilitates repair and rejuvenation of the whole body. By safely stretching, you can relieve stress, balancing and strengthening every organ, gland and tissue of each internal system. The benefits also include reversing the aging process, reshaping the body and building willpower, concentration, self control and patience.

I just wanted to thank you for all that your studio has done to help me achieve health and wellness. Since my beginnings with Bikram yoga, just a short while ago, I began attending class at least 4x a week. Within the last month, my clothes have become larger and larger - necessitating a whole new wardrobe!

 

While this is a reward, I must admit that the greatest pleasure is more internal and less visible. I am hooked on what the practice has done for me and my mental clarity and persistent knee injury (for which I had surgery and years of physical therapy). I am a newcomer to YogaSpa but I couldn't be more enthusiastic. After my first class, I immediately purchased a monthly pass for myself, a gift certificate and have had a Thai massage with Elizabeth. Last night I took my first silent class with Jean. (Thursday). It was incredible. I felt I was able to access the "teacher" within during class. I felt like I was floating. There is no silence anywhere in our society. It's a lost art and it's so important. I think I really made progress in that class - Jean was fantastic to follow. Thank you for having such a wonderful all-around spa. I've been waiting for this for years!

I am very much enjoying classes at the YogaSpa and want to share with you an added benefit that I had not thought about.

 

I noticed that my clothing was fitting me differently - specially looser. I hadn't changed anything else like diet or exercise, but I was losing weight. I had been at a plateau for a while and wasn't sure what to do to effect a weight change. Yoga seems to be doing it. My family and friends have all noticed my weight change.

 

I am happy to continue my classes not only for spiritual harmony but for the physical changes as well.
